A New Master Blend: Giorgia Lupi and Kaki King

I learned a lot about inclusion by working with master blenders of cognac at Hennessy. I found out that is only by mixing many kinds of eau-de-vie that cognac becomes something that is extraordinary. Isn’t that cool? So just one or two eau-de-vies aren’t enough — you need a true diversity of them to make a remarkable cognac. I love this!

So along that line of thinking, I took the opportunity to bring together two people that I especially admire — and see what kind of blend might happen. I was SO fortunate to bring together Giorgia Lupi and Kaki King on a special project for Hennessy that mixed visual art with music in a way that’s hard to describe, but best experienced as … the art.

Please check out the video above to learn more about this special pairing of Lupi and King! Giorgia has a post about it on her site.

If you don’t own Giorgia’s new book, you can see her new work on display at MoMA right now. And FYI, Kaki’s new album has just come out:

Thanks Giorgia, Kaki, and Hennessy! —JM
