Advice from an exec at an SVJP gathering:
- “You’re robbing your colleagues of your experience and point of view.” In other words, be frank with what you want to say to a group. Don’t save it to later.
- “Help me poke holes in my biases.” Encourage your team to question what you think is a great idea. Be open to finding what you might be missing.
- “I used informed intuition.” It’s good to use The Force, but make sure it’s grounded in some kind of data. Dataless isn’t good.
- “Don’t be transactional. Be relational.” When working with people, think about how you’re goal is to be with them. That’s a community!
